THE STORY

HARD WORK OVER TALENT

James Hype moved to London with £50 in his pocket and a dream he couldn’t explain to anyone. He spent months handing out CDs outside nightclubs to people who didn’t care. One club owner saw something. That was enough.

He spent the next years playing six nights a week in half-empty rooms, learning his craft the only way that works — by doing it badly, over and over, until he didn’t. He taught himself production on a pirated copy of Ableton in an illegal basement studio. He made “Ferrari” in that basement. It went to #1 in multiple countries.

Today he headlines festivals on every continent, holds a residency at Hi Ibiza, and has amassed over a billion streams. But the kid who flew to Ibiza on a £30 flight and begged for opening slots is still in the room. Every single show.
